Mercedes-Benz Bringing More Jobs To Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Governor Rick Scott announced Tuesday that Mercedes-Benz USA will be relocating an engineering services division from New Jersey to Jacksonville.

The company is adding the engineering services division to its Quality Evaluation Center in Jacksonville.

The 50 jobs will be a mix of employees relocating to Northeast Florida and new hires from the local market. Mercedes-Benz currently employs more than 100 Floridians at the Jacksonville facility.

“I am proud to announce that Mercedes-Benz USA has chosen Florida over New Jersey as the best place to grow their company and create jobs for Jacksonville families,” said Governor Scott. “With no income tax, a low business tax, and a focus on helping businesses succeed, it is clear why more companies are choosing to invest in our state. I look forward to seeing Mercedes-Benz USA’s continued success in Jacksonville as we continue to work each day to help Florida outcompete other states for new opportunities.”

Mercedes-Benz USA began operations in Jacksonville in 2010 and has invested more than $20 million in its 500,000 sq. ft. Jacksonville facility.

Jacksonville’s Mercedes-Benz USA facility is located at the International Trade Port near the Jacksonville International Airport.

The business units currently operating here include the Sales Operations Southern Regional Office, Parts Distribution Center, Quality Evaluation Center and Learning & Performance Center.

The QEC is one of only two operational units of its kind outside of Germany.

Cissy Proctor, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity said the relocation announcement is great news for Florida job seekers.

“Mercedes-Benz USA’s selection of our city is great news for Jacksonville,” said Mayor Lenny Curry. “This further demonstrates that the momentum is with us as our local economy continues to grow, creating highly-skilled jobs and more opportunities for our citizens and their families.”

Mercedes-Benz USA, headquartered in Atlanta, is responsible for the distribution, marketing and customer service for all Mercedes-Benz products in the United States.

MBUSA offers drivers the most diverse lineup in the luxury segment with 15 model lines ranging from the sporty CLA-Class four-door coupe to the flagship S-Class and the Mercedes-AMG GT S.

Interior Design of the future E-Class

Published on Dec 8, 2015
Mercedes-Benz is taking a big step into the future by numerous innovations with the future E-Class, including in terms of the design of the interior, which features a wide high-resolution next-generation dual display (12.3 inches per display) that appears to hover in space. In addition, touch-sensitive control buttons on the steering wheel make their first appearance in a car. They allow the driver to control the entire infotainment system using finger swipes without having to take their hands off the steering wheel. The all-new experience is rounded off by a novel, intelligent graphic design with high-resolution visualisations and animations as well as simplified control logic. At the same time, the occupants enjoy a sensual interior with spacious architecture and high-quality materials.
True to Mercedes-Benz’s design philosophy of sensual purity, the interior of the future E-Class becomes a luxury living area, a “third place”. Find more information on

Mercedes-Benz may create electric-only brand

Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz division may follow in fellow German automaker BMW’s footsteps by launching its own separate brand for electric vehicles, Hybrid Cars says, citing German publication Handelsblatt, which quoted people familiar with the process. Daimler’s board may make the decision to go ahead with the plan as early next month. And the brand may officially be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Unlike BMW and the i brand, Mercedes would use its existing factories to produce the newly-branded vehicles instead of operating out of a separate one as the i brand does. The first vehicle under the brand is likely to be an SUV model based on the Mercedes-Benz GLC crossover vehicle and would start sales next year. The product line would be broadened further in 2020. Daimler declined to comment, according to Handelsblatt.

Mercedes-Benz and BMW wouldn’t be the only two German automakers with plans for more electric vehicle sales. Volkswagen has a plan to unleash as many as 20 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids to the public by 2020, including the Phaeton and the Audi A8. On that note, reports surfaced last month that VW may build its own “Gigafacory” as it prepares to widen its plug-in vehicle push and bring down their costs.

As for US sales, Smart sold 313 ForTwo Electric vehicles, down 43 percent from a year earlier. Meanwhile, BMW’s i sales in the US fell 40 percent from a year earlier to 2,723. Currently, Mercedes-Benz’s only two electric vehicles are the Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive and the Smart ForTwo Electric two-seat vehicle.
